I've noticed that if you have to use a punch tool on some soft paper, it can help to put a stiffer sheet of paper underneath the soft paper. It gives support and prevents the soft paper from stretching when punched.

Thanks Stello. That's a good tip and it definitely does work sometimes - a lot - I should have included it! Particularly with lighterweight, non-fibrous papers. With papers like mulberry tissue with lots of fibrous it still won't help, but it's always worth a try!
